And a foot too…thats what talented polymer clay artist Chris Rutter sent as a lovely gifty to ME! She’s sent along a gorgeous set of single extremities, trimmed in gold cord and black maribou feathers, all set onto a gold and black covered 6″x6″ ceramic tile.
While the toes sport a lovely fire red nailpolish, (made using acrylic paint and varathane as people-type polish doestnt do well on polymer clay in the long run) the nails on the hand are left unpainted, the better to show of this translucent pc manicure. Now if I ever need a hand, I’ve got an extra. Thanks bunches, Chris!!

April is always full of surprises, such as weather that can go from 15 inches of new snowfall to 80 degrees and balmy in just a day or two. Blossoms in the snow have been sighted recently.
It’s also yer auld Aunt Acid’s birth month!
Just a year ago, the wrappings came off and the beauteous mug that is mine-own shone forth!
In special celebration, here’s a poster rendered in homage to the style of Alphonse Mucha and his lovely floral femmes. Al set the stage for beautiful curves in the art of advertising in his era.
This image also shows how flowers come together. No need to send the kiddies from the room–it’s just art, no birds and bees involved.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you who celebrate this lovely holiday. May you always have access to as much chocolate as you want, and never have reason to regret it! Here’s a Valentine Collage made using Adobe Photoshop with a digital camera picture of polymer clay hearts, a scan of antique laces, a digital scan of a 35mm color slide by Bob Greiser of a polymer clay Shady Lady by Sarajane Helm and the letter “V” in a dingbat font called Vintage. Photoshop fun! When she’s not acting as head plaesthetician and wardrobe mistress around here, she’s back at college, learning how to tart things up even more around here. She seems to think this counts as homework.
(Hershey’s) Kisses to you all from Aunt Acid and all the Ladies at Madame’s House.

Here’s a peek into the private side of my dear friend Madame’s house. This is Madame’s own room. The bed is made with polymer clay over wooden skewers. Even the plants are polymer clay!
Madame’s vanity table in the corner of her room.

She’s got pics of Andy, Ava, and “Mr. K”. Ah, those were some memorable parties…..
Aunt Acid has friends in all SORTS of places, big and small! And these are small; 1/6 scale . Not including Mr. K.

Happy New Year from Madame's House
Ring out the old, ring in the new!! Raise a toast of your favorite libation and drink it down to the dregs–Happy New Year from Madame to all!
This year we celebrate once again with a bottle of chilled Sparkling Cider and good friends at home. Madame is ready to celebrate as well! But she’s not just celebrating the birth of a new year, its Madame’s birthday too!! Born at the end of the year, she’s always ready for the next one to bring wonderful opportunities to celebrate. Her sisters are ready to assist!
Rod is popping out of the buttercream and chocolate cake…good thing Madame doesnt mind a little hair in the frosting, or a little frosting in the hair!

Happy Birthday to Madame!

Another Holiday Party at Madame's House
There’s always a party at Madame’s place and at this time of year the ladies all keep an eye on the mistletoe as well as on the guests. You never know who will be hanging from the chandelier….
These dolls are between 9 and 11 inches tall, and made of polymer clay. Though created in a different scale than your Dear Auld Aunt Acid, these Shady Ladies are not lesser beings, just smaller.
Older cousins and sisters, and none of them young and dewey-eyed, but still lovely in their own quirky ways, as are we all. Let me join the Ladies one and all in wishing you happy holidays all throughout the coming year.
These are photos taken by Bobby Grieser in 1992. The princess waiting for Santa on the bearskin rug in the picture shown below is about 10 inches tall, and the setting is fashion doll scale(1×6).

Aunt Acid is now participating in Day of the Dead Festivities in the front window of Nomad Designs, a wonderful and creative spot in Boulder Colorado filled with exotic goodies (besides Auntie!!) where you can find beads and lots of other things from around the world.
Located at 1813 Pearl Street, (near the famous Pearl Street Mall) this place is worth a visit, even when Aunt Acid isnt in the building.
You can spot her there through the month of October celebrating the turn of the year, our ancestors and loved ones passed and present.
She’s got her little dogs, too–Perky and Pesky both.
They always prefer to be where Aunt Acid is…and maybe they’ll even find a bone or two made of sugar!
Aunt Acid is all decked out with polymer clay beads and skulls, silver milagros and “flores para muertes” circling her black lace mantilla. There’s even a Black Madonna brooch on her decolletage, which was made from polymer clay by artist Dotty McMillan.
In addition to beads, imported art and objects, jewelry, and exotic items, you can also take classes at Nomad including one on making Spirit Dolls.
The next one is coming up Sunday October 19th at noon. We won’t be making any dolls as large as Aunt Acid though!
Check their website for more information.

The doorway itself is a work of art at Nomad, letting you know that what you’ll find inside is not the usual run of the mill room and furnishings.
I particularly like the doorknobs!
And the tilework by the door is also lovely.
Do stop by and visit if you happen to be Out West here in Boulder Colorado! Tell ‘em Aunty sent ya, and don’t be surprised if she doesnt say ”hello” while performing–she’s a real pro.

Oh my stars.
And look…..there’s one now! Its a tie dyed testemonial to terrific-ness, one way or another.
We’ve been busy worker bees here at the theatre, and sets, props, costumes and more are starting to come together. Whether they stay together depends on the glue, but we’re hoping.
Musical Director Eddie Ersatz is working out the theme music for our show. Appropriately titled, “Let’s Talk About Toys” is a romping little tune! You can take a listen to the Intro over at the Aunt Acid MySpace page.
Also available now are the first of my Rants and Raves up for your viewing pleasure. Whether its politics of money and taxes or blue glass guitars, there’s ALWAYS something to talk about here!

Tsk. I tell ya, toots, they’ve let the place go to hell in a handbag, and Shirley’s holding it. We all just better hope she doesn’t let it out, but then Shirley’s always been very tight about the pocketbook, if you know what I mean.
And its a darn good thing too, because somebody has to tend to the till. Thats why I’m back to business, and building up steam. (Or maybe the breakfast bean burrito wasn’t such a good idea. That could be it…)
I’ve been spending the last several months selfishly, pulling myself together (with the help of skilled professional Plaestheticians) and as you can plainly see the time, effort, and money was WORTH it. I’m rested, refreshed, my head is together and my eyes are clear. I still can’t feel my fingers or toes, but they tell me thats to be expected for a while….there’s still work to be done!
And thats the point, toots, in the world of working artists and musicians NObody is such a big a star that they don’t have to pitch in and work. And thats precisely why even Stars (thats with a big “S”, toots, you know I have one!) such as myself are out here cleaning up the theater, setting up tables and getting ready to display the cds and tshirts you can buy after the show. ( I tossed for it with Eddie and won. Guess who has to finish sweeping the lobby AND do the bathrooms?? hehehe). Merchandise sales are usually how a band eeks out a living, if there’s any eeking to be done. Bands who get picked up by Big Time Management often don’t even get that…always remember to keep the merchandising rights and the copyrights too, kiddies! “Royalties” should be something beyond the broad in the crown. Residuals! A Piece Of The Back End!!!
ooof….speaking of backends, I think I’ll just sit down. These tables are heavy.
There’s still so much to be done, kiddies, but the whole troupe is on it. Won’t be long now and we’ll be printing up the tickets and the handbills so stop in again soon and see what’s up!
